Segundo a Folha de S. Paulo, o pedido partiu da Procuradoria-Geral da Rep\u00fablica e foi aceito pelo ministro Teori Zavascki, relator da Opera\u00e7\u00e3o Lava Jato no STF. O parlamentar e sua fam\u00edlia s\u00e3o investigados por manterem contas no exterior que teriam recebido dinheiro com origem em esquemas de corrup\u00e7\u00e3o na Petrobras. Em dezembro, o Pol\u00edcia Federal realizou buscas na resid\u00eancia oficial da C\u00e2mara dos Deputados, na casa e no escrit\u00f3rio de Cunha no Rio de Janeiro e na Diretoria-Geral da C\u00e2mara dos Deputados. Paulo, o presidente da C\u00e2mara criticou a quebra dos sigilos e afirmou que o Procurador-Geral da Rep\u00fablica, Rodrigo Janot, &#8220;atua politicamente, escolhendo a quem investigar&#8221;.
